I’m going to Continuum this weekend! You can see the full program here. Here’s where you can find me (please note I’m on three things on Friday AND Friday is a gold coin donation entry! NO EXCUSES).
Hey penguin fans, this weekend I’m going to be attending the (Un)ethical futures: utopia, dystopia and science fiction conference. My paper, This Oath and This Indenture: Health Care, Stereotypes, and Our Climate Change Dystopia, will be a 20-minute presentation as part of the ‘Climate and Dystopias’ session on Sunday afternoon. I’m so excited to be attending and presenting at this conference.
Tickets are still available, and you should consider coming to experience my feelings on health care in science fiction, because I have a LOT of feelings about health care in our climate change dystopia.
Today I spoke at the Emerging Writers Festival on Literature and Identity. It was a collaborative, chatty, early morning panel with two awesome Australian women, Rosalind McFarlane and Laurie May. I’ve done a quick summary and write-up over at No Award. The Early Words: Literature and Identity.
I’m at EWF next week, on the Literature and Identity panel which is part of The Early Words. The Early Words is a series of breakfast time panels next week – the others in the series are Writing Body and Mind and About the Animals.
In Literature and Identity we’re going to be talking about culture, feminism, queerness, and whatever else we feel like at 08:30 (ugh) and discussing how identity is encountered in writing and, my particular favourite, how identity in writing influences our own identities.
